UNICOLOURED BLACKBIRD Agelasticus cyanopus
Looking at a photograph of the brightly-coloured female, the name Unicoloured Blackbird seems quite inappropriate. However, when applied to the wholly black male the reasoning behind it becomes a bit clearer. Unicoloureds are marsh blackbirds, superficially like other all black members of their family, but with a long, thin bill and flattened head that gives them a quite different aspect. Like many members of their family they possess a wide and pleasant vocal repertoire, interspersed with some nastier notes!
