STRIPE-CROWNED SPARROW Rhynchospiza strigiceps
This is the version of the widespread Rufous-collared Sparrow that is adapted to the desolate and arid scrublands of the High Chaco. Note the brown crown stripes and lack of a rufous nape band. It is an uncommon bird, very locally distributed and rarely seen, in part due to the remoteness of its habitat but also because of natural rarity. Formerly classified in the genus Aimophila.
