GRASSLAND SPARROW Ammodramus humeralis
The distant "seee-saaaawing" call of the little Grassland Sparrow is one of the evocative sounds of the Paraguayan countryside, even if you haven´t yet worked out who the singer is! For the most part all you will see of him is a flutter of wings as a brownish-grey bird appears from under your feet, flies a short distance and disappears again. You see despite his penchant for singing the Grassland Sparrow suffers from stage fright, and he prefers to scuttle about mouse-like on the ground, unobtrusively going about his business.
