HYACINTH MACAW Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus ENDANGERED
Arguably one of the most spectacular birds in the world, the gigantic blue Hyacinth Macaw is a rare inhabitant of extreme north-eastern Paraguay and the Pantanal. It is closely-tied to palm savanna where it feeds almost exclusively on palm-nuts, using the massive bill to crack open the kernels and feed on the nutrients inside that are inaccessible to other animals.
