YELLOWISH PIPIT Anthus lutescens
For pipit, read identification nightmare, because these streaky little brown birds are one of the most challenging groups facing the birdwatcher. Fortunately in Paraguay only one species is really widespread and common, the guy in the photos below! For the most part they scurry mouse-like through vegetation, flushing suddenly from under your feet giving, if you are lucky, a glimpse of a black-and-white tail as they take to the air. If you still haven´t put a name to him, he clinches his identification by giving a buzzy zweeeeeeeee as he tumbles steeply back to earth, before disappearing again into the grass.
