LINED BLACKHEAD Apostolepis intermedia
Apostolepis is a genus of rarely seen burrowing snakes, typically with a red-coloured body and known commonly as "Blackheads". This species, previously known from just two specimens in southern Brazil, was confirmed to be at least locally fairly common in the cerrado of Paraguay by fieldworkers at Para La Tierra ecological station, at Laguna Blanca. The images here represent the first photographs and records of the species in Paraguay.
