BLUE-CROWNED PARAKEET Aratinga acuticaudata
The Aratinga parakeets are the largest of the Paraguayan parakeets, a parakeet being pretty much a parrot with a long tail. Blue-crowneds are common in the Chaco where they occur alongside, but generally vastly outnumber their close relative the White-eyed Parakeet. They form small flocks of up to about 20 individuals, regularly dropping to the ground to feed.
