FRINGED FRUIT-EATING BAT Artibeus fimbriatus
Three species of Artibeus are present in Paraguay, all are relatively similar in appearance. This species is intermediate in size between the two other species of Paraguayan Artibeus and is typically dark in colouration with only weak head stripes. That said it can be extremely variable an examination of skull characteristics is sometimes required for a specific designation.
