UPLAND SANDPIPER Bartramia longicauda
The strangely-shaped Upland Sandpiper with its large head and long, thin neck, is one of the most distinctive of the migrant sandpipers. Unfortunately it is also one of the shiest, tending to flush at the first opportunity. This species is often seen flying high, its distinctive call betraying its identity.
