SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER Calidris pusilla
A rare passage migrant through Paraguay with about a dozen records in total, mainly in the Chaco or along the Paraguayan river. It is a small sandpiper, very similar to White-rumped Sandpiper C. fuscicollis, from which it can be distinguished by the dark centre of the rump, the wholly dark bill with a broad base.
