SOUTHERN BEARDLESS-TYRANNULET Camptostoma obsoletum
Nondescript and dull, the Southern Beardless-Tyrannulet is unremarkable to look at. However he will catch your attention as soon as he opens his bill, a loud noise like the laughter of a maniacal horse pouring out of his tiny lungs. Beardless-Tyrannulets are widespread but their uninteresting plumage means that they need to be studied carefully to correctly identify them (assuming they are not calling). They are surprisingly common in some areas, especially in drier forest and scrub of the northern Orient.
