SPOT-TAILED NIGHTJAR Caprimulgus maculicaudus
The Spot-tailed is one of the less commonly-encountered nightjars in Paraguay, despite having a wide distribution that spans from Mexico south to Paraguay. It is a grassland nightjar, most easily identified by its broad buffy supercilium, bright orange collar and prominent white spots on the outer tail feathers. Both sexes lack white patches on the wings.
