PALE-CRESTED WOODPECKER Celeus lugubris
A crazy-looking woodpecker with a striking blonde hair-do that earns him the nickname "Billy Idol" amongst local birders. This is the dry forest representative of a superspecies that includes another "Billy Idol", the Blond-crested Woodpecker, its geographic replacement in the Atlantic forests of the Orient.
