ROBERTīS CERCOLOPHIA Amphisbaena roberti
Amphisbaenids are blind, subterranean reptiles, superficially resembling earthworms. Given their burrowing habits they are rarely seen, though occasionally exceptionally wet conditions can drive them to the surface. This species along with Amphisbaena steindachneri was formerly placed in the genus Cercolophia. It can be distinguished from that species by the more rounded snout, absence of a caudal keel and presence of 2 precloacal pores (as opposed to 4).
