GREEN-AND-RUFOUS KINGFISHER Chloroceryle inda
A rare but handsome kingfisher of densely forested streams, the secretive nature and dense habitat of this species means that it is seldom observed. A large bird, it is similar in size to an Amazon Kingfisher, though its plumage most resembles the tiny American Pygmy Kingfisher - the enormous size difference meaning that the two are unlikely to be confused even on a brief view.
