HOOK-BILLED KITE Chondrohierax uncinatus
A secretive forest kite with a wickedly hooked pecker. Its a snail specialist armed with its own winkle picker. Hook-billed Kites are uncommon and difficult to observe, though are most often encountered in the Dry Chaco. Juvenile birds can be identified by their white throats and contrasting black cap.
