MANED WOLF Chrysocyon brachyurus
Like a fox on stilts, the Maned Wolf is a graceful inhabitant of grasslands and cerrado in northern and western Paraguay. It is a secretive animal, difficult to observe and somewhat nocturnal in habits, however they betray their presence with a variety of clues. During the fruiting season for palms look out for piles of vomit consisting almost entirely of these fruits - the wolves are so fond of them that they gorge themselves until they are sick!!
