CICHLIDAE - CICHLIDS
Though they reach their greatest diversity in Africa, where in some areas every lake seems to have its own species, the Cichlids also make it to South America, albeit in some cases with the help of man! They are distinctive, often ornate fish with long, flowing dorsal fins and rounded tails.
