FUSCOUS FLYCATCHER Cnemotriccus fuscatus
Secretive and easily overlooked in forest undergrowth, the Fuscous Flycatcher keeps himself very much to himself. Furthermore he is pretty quiet, emitting only the occasional whistle to betray his presence, as a result he appears much less common than he actually is.

The nondescript nature and secretive behaviour of this drab little forest flycatcher can make it initially confusing. Non-vocalising birds are most likely confused with Euler´s Flycatcher Lathrotriccus euleri which often occurs alongside it in humid areas. Note however that Euler´s Flycatcher has a pinkish lower mandible, lacks the prominent supercilium and dark line through the eye and is duller and browner above. Fuscous Flycatcher also occurs in dry forest where Euler´s Flycatcher is often absent.
