PREHENSILE-TAILED PORCUPINE Coendou prehensilis
Armed with a back full of white, black and yellow spines the Prehensile-tailed Porcupine is ready for anybody who is thinking of taking a bite out of him! An arboreal species the tail acts as a fifth limb enabling him to manoeuvre his way around the canopy as easily as any monkey - though at a more tranquil pace! Spending much of the day curled in a ball on a canopy branch the Porcupine is easily overlooked! This is the larger of Paraguay´s two porcupine species.
