RUDDY GROUND-DOVE Columbina talpacoti
A fat little dove with a short tail, the Ruddy Ground-dove is handsome despite his limited stature. As his name suggests he is a very terrestrial species, walking with a comical waddle and picking at the ground for seeds and plant matter. Ruddy Ground-doves tend to be more common in open areas with red soils, where their plumage provides them with some degree of camouflage.
