RED PILEATED-FINCH Coryphospingus cucullatus
A surprisingly common little finch of open scrubby areas, the Red Pileated-Finch turns up almost everywhere that grass seeds become available. As usual the Paraguayans outdo the English with the evocativeness of their common names, here it is called "Brasita de Fuego" which roughly translates as "Fiery Ember", in reference to the deep reddish-black colouration of the male.
