RUSTY-BACKED SPINETAIL Cranioleuca vulpina
The Pantanal Cranioleuca is, as you might expect, associated with forested waterways. In all other respects though he is a typically restless member of the genus, keen on shouting his mouth off and rarely still for more than a second. The images here by Nelson Pérez represented the first record of this bird in the Oriental region Paraguay, in the northeastern enclave of Departamento Alto Paraná, a region with a distinctly Pantanalesque feel to its avifauna!
