CTENUCHINI - CTENUCHID TIGER MOTHS
Formerly treated as a subfamily incorporating the Euchromiini, this group is now considered a tribe within the Arctiinae. The metapisternal tymbal organ is absent in many and veins Sc and Rs are fused in the hindwing. The proboscis is well-developed. Food plants are generally grasses, mosses and lichens. Larvae have dense brushes of secondary setae on verrucae. The crochets are uniordinal. Pupation occurs in a cocoon of silk and larval setae.
