GLAUCOUS-BLUE GROSBEAK Cyanoloxia glaucocaerulea
A little blue bird with a big crushing bill, the Glaucous-blue Grosbeak is considered a winter visitor to Paraguay and is nowhere numerous. Often confused with the larger Ultramarine Grosbeak, note the difference between the pale turquoise colouration of this bird compared with the deep blue of the other, and also the habitat preference, this species preferring forested areas or edge habitats whilst the Ultramarine is much less choosy about his surroundings, even occurring in the Chaco!!
