JIMI TREE-FROG Dendropsophus jimi
The little Dendropsophus tree frogs can be a real headache when it comes to identification. Typically they adopt a pale yellowish or orange colour when calling at night that can render them all very similar as you stand knee-deep in water trying to get a good look without losing your balance and scaring him away. Fortunately this species has a distinctive call "jimi-jimi-jimi...." that gives the game away. If in doubt catch him, place him in a jar with some water, and by morning he will have changed into this handsome green and black frog that is much more recognisable.
