BOBOLINK Dolichonyx oryzivorus
Well-known to North American birders, the Bobolink is a migrant to Paraguay. Found in open wet grasslands, this species has declined alarmingly as a result of habitat destruction both in its breeding areas and in its wintering grounds. Despite its sparrow-like appearance, the Bobolink is one of the Icterids, or New World Blackbirds. The handsome breeding plumage of adult males is rarely seen in its full glory in Paraguay.
