CHACO OVAL FROG Elachistocleis haroi CHACO
The species limits continue to be defined in this confusing genus of narrow-mouthed frogs. The Chaco specimens are now ascribed to E. haroi, based on the yellow vertebral line, whitish ventral colouration, and "Christmas tree" dorsal pattern. Like other members of the genus they are explosive breeders, suddenly appearing in large numbers after rain, when their scratchy cricket-like calls fill the air.
