ERYTHRINIDAE - TRAHIRAS
Powerful predatory fish that lie in wait in the shallows, the voracious attack strategy of the Trahiras makes them one of the most frequently caught species by line fishermen in Paraguay. Whilst the juveniles donīt pose any great danger, be careful when handling large adults - and these fish can reach 1.5kg in weight! They are slippery customers and armed with a set of sharp teeth that can easily sever the finger of an unwary pescador.
