EUCHROMIINI - METALLIC WASP MOTHS
Formerly considered part of the Ctenuchinae (now Ctenuchini). The metapisternal tymbal organ is absent in many and veins Sc and Rs are fused in the hindwing. Typically they are narrow-winged and metallic in colouration, diurnal in behaviour and likely mimic wasps. The proboscis is well-developed. Some species have transparent wings and bear a superficial resemblance to the Clearwing Moths (Sesiidae), but note the longer, thinner forewings and the frequently pale-tipped antennae - characteristic of many members of this tribe. Food plants are generally grasses, mosses and lichens. Larvae have dense brushes of secondary setae on verrucae. The crochets are uniordinal. Pupation occurs in a cocoon of silk and larval setae.
