RUSTY-BACKED ANTWREN Formicivora rufa
This distinctively marked antwren is found in dry scrubby areas in the cerrado zone. Habitually encountered in pairs, males jealously protect both their mates and their territories. Even the presence of a human observer is sometimes enough to convince the male that a bout of territorial singing is necessary to let you know that this particular piece of yellowing scrub is already occupied. Don´t even think about pitching your tent in the vicinity!
