SOUTH AMERICAN SNIPE Gallinago paraguaiae
Snipe are instantly recognisable for their cryptic plumage, large eye and extremely long bill! They are difficult birds to see, blending perfectly into their surroundings and suddenly bursting into flight from underfoot! Best time to view them is during their display when birds take to the air and produce bizarre whirring noises with their wing and tail feathers as they rapidly descend.
