CHACO LEAF-EARED MOUSE Graomys chacoensis
A large rat-like mouse of thorny scrub in the Chaco. The tail is longer than the head and body and penicillate. Pelage is bicoloured, whiter below and brownish or greyish above. This is a common and adaptable species that climbs trees with ease. Groups occasionally forage together. It is aggressive when captured and often attempts to bite. This species was recently split from Graomys griseoflavus (Ferro LI, Martinez JJ 2009 - Molecular and Morphometric Evidence Validates a Chacoan Species of the Grey Leaf-eared Mouse Genus Graomys - Mammalia 73: p265-271.).
