HENNA-CAPPED FOLIAGE-GLEANER Hylocryptus rectirostris
Somewhere between a hornero and a cacholote is this secretive and restricted range furnariid. With a very specific habitat requirement tied to dense forested streams in subhumid forest and a range covering a small area of northern Paraguay and southern Brazil, it is a naturally low density species that is probably of conservation concern. Increasing levels of deforestation within its range mean that action may need to be taken to protect this species in the near future.
