GREEN IGUANA Iguana iguana
The big Green Iguana is a familiar lizard to many people, being one of the most commonly kept pet reptiles. They are impressive, long-tailed beasts, like mini-dragons, with an extendable dewlap and long ridged crest running from the back of the head along the spine. In Paraguay they are confined to the Pantanal area where they spend most of the lying out on leafy branches, their colouration making them extraordinarily difficult to spot amongst the foliage.
