MOUSTACHED FROG Leptodactylus mystacinus
It is not hard to see where the common name of this attractive frog came from, the bold lines down the side of the face looking for all the world like a broad moustache. This species calls from a burrow so is rarely observed, but it is not uncommon. Nor is it always found near water, though of course it does need water in order to build its foam nest and breed.
