AUSTRAL NEGRITO Lessonia rufa
Like a clockwork toy the Austral Negrito sprints around near the water´s edge, picking at insects from time to time. It is by no means a commonly-encountered bird in Paraguay, with only odd individuals turning up when winters further south are proving particularly harsh. If you want to guarantee seeing one you are best off heading to the temperate regions of Argentina where he is amongst the commonest of wetland birds.
