LEMA´S STRIPED SNAKE Lygophis dilepis
Formerly classified in the genus Liophis, this species is a fast-moving, ground-dwelling snake. It is a handsome species with yellow underparts and black longitudinal lines, and a slim, small structure that makes him difficult to see as he zips through the grass. In patternation it resembles both Lygophis flavifrenatus and Lygophis meridionalis which both occur in Paraguay but this species lacks black markings on the underside and lower sides of the body.
