LITHOSIINAE - LICHEN MOTHS
Forewing narrow but hindwing broader and more rounded. Forewing vein R1 merges with Sc over much of its length and one of the veins arising from the cell is often lost. Larvae less densely-covered with secondary setae than other subfamilies. and corchets arranged as uniordinal mesoseries. Prolegs may have extended lobes laterally. Larvae feed on epiphytic algae or lichens, hence the common name.
