WETZEL´S DIURNAL GECKO Lygodactylus wetzeli
A tiny, diurnal gecko, this species is especially fond of tree trunks where its cryptic colouration makes it difficult to observe. It is the only member of its genus in Paraguay, and in fact is more closely related to many African species than to other Paraguayan geckos. This species is rarely seen because of its small size (no longer than 5cm total length) and is confined to arid areas of the Chaco.
