CERRADO STRIPED SNAKE Lygophis paucidens
Closely related to Lygophis dilepis, this handsome cerrado endemic has a wide range across central Brazil but is known from very few specimens. Its discovery in Paraguay in 2011 by Para La Tierra fieldworker Anna Kallberg extended its range into the Paraguayan cerrado, where to date it is known only from Reserva Natural Laguna Blanca in Departamento San Pedro.
