RED BROCKET Mazama americana
Much less often encountered than his smaller relative the Grey Brocket, this reddish-coloured deer prefers more densely forested areas and it is unusual to see him in the open. They are quite solitary in behaviour, feeding on fruit, leaves, mushrooms and flowers, but have disappeared from many areas as a result of habitat destruction.
