KLAPPENBACH´S RED-BELLY TOAD Melanophryniscus klappenbachi
Red-belly toads, of which there are several species in Paraguay, have an interesting irruptive life-cycle. They can become momentarily common in one area during breeding, before disappearing almost completely for the rest of the year. This species is principally associated with Humid Chaco like habitats (Presidente Hayes, Concepción, Ñeembucú, Alto Paraguay and presumably San Pedro) along the Rio Paraguay.
