GREEN IBIS Mesembrinibis cayennensis
A secretive ibis of wooded wetlands, this species strays into the open only rarely, usually during the early morning and late evening. But for all his secrecy he is a noisy bird, his far-reaching call being heard more often than the bird is seen. The dark plumage hides the metallic shades of green, bronze and purple, which flash brightly as the bird catches the sunlight.
