DOUBLE-BANDED CORAL-SNAKE Micrurus altirostris
A large coral snake that can reach up to 80cm in length, this is the one that is most capable of inflicting bites on humans. This species can be identified by its size and by the double black bands separated by yellow bands. A similar pattern is shared by the smaller Micrurus frontalis, though note that the separating bands are white in that species. This is a diurnal, terrestrial snake of forested areas.
