WHITE-BANDED MOCKINGBIRD Mimus triurus
In winter Paraguay is blessed by the presence of this mocker, an eminently handsome bird, who breeds further south in the continent. He´s a late migrant, remaining in Paraguay until early November. He is at his best in flight, when the pure white outer tail feathers and extensive white in the wing combine to produce an eyecatching display for the oberver. The White-banded is a small mockingbird, but in keeping with other members of his family he has a big character. Most birds choose to winter in the Chaco, they are much less common in eastern Paraguay.
