BLUE-CROWNED MOTMOT Momotus momota
The most widespread member of the motmot family, this species extensive distribution finally runs out in northern Paraguay - making it as a result the harder of the two motmots to see in Paraguay! This bird, like his congeners, is a handsome species with deep green plumage and a long, pendulous tail. It is found in the dry forests of northern Paraguay, especially in the cerrado belt.
