SILVER LINED WORM LIZARD Ophiodes intermedius
Worm Lizards, or "Glass Snakes" as they are sometimes called, are essentially lizards with no legs. The name glass snakes comes from the extraordinarily brittle body, prone to breakage. They may look a bit like snakes, but pay attention to how they move and the fact that the head and the body are not clearly differentiated and the vestigial hind limbs where the body ends and the tail begins. This is the most widespread member of the family in Paraguay and is easily recognised because of its distinctive markings and silver colouration.
