QUAESTOR HOCICUDO Oxymycterus quaestor
Hocicudos are identifiable on account of their long snouts - in fact the word Hocicudo comes from the local Spanish name meaning "long snout". They are fairly large rodents of wet habitats. This species can be separated from the other species recorded in Paraguay on account of its reddish rather than dark brown pelage.
