GREY-NAPED BECARD Pachyramphus castaneus
A small and secretive bird, the Grey-naped (or Chestnut-crowned) is one of the least often observed of the Paraguayan Becards inhabiting as it does dense forest canopy. Once classed with the flycatchers (Tyrannidae) and even the Cotingas (Cotingas) the taxonomic position of the Becards has recently been confirmed to lie among the newly-defined "Schiffornis Assemblage" (Tityridae).
